Description: Vtg French Hand Carved Wooden Photo Frame M Beziaud WW2 Memory of Captivity 1942 An interesting and historical hand carved oak photograph frame. Dated 1942 "Souvenir de Captivité GA" (Memory of Captivity GA). Not sure what the letters GA stand for, perhaps his Army unit? The handsome gentleman on the right is Jean Pierre Rene BEZIAUD and the other chap looks like either an older version of him or maybe his father. Found with the frame is an Agenda du Soldat dated 1951 which is also included where it confirms Jean Pierre's name and that he continued his Army Service in Tunisia after the ending of WW2 in 1945. The French protectorate of Tunisia that was established lasted until the independence of Tunisia on 20 March 1956. Who knows who carved this, maybe Jean Pierre's family during the War perhaps he was captured in Germany? In excellent vintage condition just a little piece of glass is missing to the right photograph, an easy replacement.
