Description: THIS ITEM: Obtained from home downsizing for upcoming move. Absolutely gorgeous handmade 14"+ stoneware wall art features a textured Hydrangea pattern, in shades of indigo blue & moss green. There is a romantic feel from the hazy painting/glazing style. No breaks, repairs, chips, or fading. The applied crackle glaze gives a latticework of crazing, providing additional charm to this original vintage piece. The crazing is sealed, and has no open fractures. There is one tiny lone paint fleck (?) that is visible, see photos. This gorgeous statement wall art is unique, hard to find, & was likely made to order. Front of the plate bears the artist's signature (Gray?). The reverse has "Chatham Pottery" imprinted on it,& bears a hand painted note dated "19xx"? I cannot make out definitively. The bottom rim is "pierced" & strung with wire for hanging. This is hefty piece, crafted to be beautiful wall art & made to last! Please see photos. Wonderful gift idea: lovely focal point art on wall or mantle, & fantastic keepsake from Cape Cod Massachusetts. Order will ship with additional insurance. Note all Chatham Pottery is micro-, dishwasher-, and oven-, safe! I personally prefer hand washing. Per Chatham Pottery website: "For nearly three decades, we have been hand-making and hand-painting high-fired stoneware inspired by the one-of-a-kind beauty of Cape Cod. High-fired stoneware produces a more durable body, allowing it to withstand the rigors of normal, everyday use. Our intention with every piece is to create something that can be used, appreciated, handed-down. To endure. As such, we like to think of our pottery as functional art, elegance tempered with strength; beauty with purpose." THE BASICS: (This is the part we dislike, but want to ensure we're all on the same page!) Here we go! Lots of finds we sell have been previously worn or used, so it will likely evidence some degree of wear. Also note that hand crafted items often have minor variances (glaze thickness, dimples, settling, etc.) which is common in pottery/ceramics. Please be assured, we will never knowingly hide flaws or misrepresent an item. ~ Stock is described to the best of our ability as laypersons, not specialists or experts of any kind.
