Vintage OUTSTANDING 1950s Stetson 3X Beaver Gray Fedora Size 7-1/2 No Hat Box

Description: Excellent OUTSTANDING Vintage very early 1950s Stetson 3X Beaver - Gray Fedora size 7-1/2. We know the tag states 7-3/8 but back then there was NO hat sizing standardization, read below. This measures to a perfect size 7-1/2. It is perfectly shaped! It’s a real looker! Dad and grandson needed to do very little work on this one, just a bit of cleaning and minor steaming to get the shape back to the original style.NOTE: Dad wanted the hat box in the pictures. NO HAT BOX INCLUDED. The bottom of this box is partially broken out but Dad still has a hat stored inside of it. You are buying the Fedora only. You can always find much better Stetson hat boxes here on eBay for sale.You can see this shaping is outstanding on this great fedora! If you look at the top of the crown it still has that original “Bump” in the center.As you can see the leather sweatband is nearly Pristine and there is very little wear to it and the sewn joint is perfect! You can always tell that hat has not been worn very much at all when the Reed has no wear at all on it. There is a tiny tiny bit of wear on the very back reed only that we saw after a watcher wrote to us and we had my grandson re-examine it, see very last picture. Again it’s tiny and very minor! The reed is that top edge that goes around the top edge of the hat and is where the leather sweatband attaches to the hat. This Reed appears to have no wear on it, see pictures and blow them up to better see this detail. There is still a part of an old sticker that did not completely come off by the sewn joint.You can see that this is a very early 1950s Stetson because of the Keyhole size tag with only “3/8” printed on it, if it had “7-3/8” printed on it it would have been manufactured later in the 1950s also with that liner design and color. The size tag was falling out so we mounted it back into place.This is a light Gray color and the picture looking at the whole underside is the best representation of the color. One of Dads collectors think it’s a SilverBelly? So the picture of the whole underside is the color you are buying. If you have any comments or questions please write before buying this fedora. So the Not sure why we can’t get the color to always come out consistently? Anybody out there has any suggestions?This is 3X Long Hair Beaver. So when making this great fedora, Stetson did not have the Beaver sanded down to a smooth finish. When making the actual hat there is an actual machine that “Sands” down the beaver to the desired length. This is NOT wool! This is a Long Hair Beaver Fedora. Not really certain why some folks are writing to ask that? Wool would NEVER feel like this or steam shape into this style and hold the shaping!My Grandson says that there are videos on the internet that you can see how this is done. I have actually seen this machine at work sanding down the rough blank hats. There is still a few OUTSTANDING Hatters out there! I saw this at a private hat maker’s workshop. He makes some of the BEST HATS EVER, fromBeaver Blanks! Powder River Hats in Elisabeth Colorado. He uses Beaver Twenty to make his hats. It has been many years since I was there though. He actually has old Stetson machines he used when I was there. What a GREAT MAN! And he is one of the NICEST Gentleman we have met in a long time! Allowing us to watch him work and taking the time to explain to us how hat are made. I could have spent another day there just watching the ARTIST at work! This has been steamed into a Diamond - Pinched Crown and it’s Beautiful! What’s really interesting that this fedora still has the center “Bump” still in the center top of the crown!
