Description: Vintage Ordnance Survey very sturdy 1953 linen cloth map of Cheltenham and Evesham Sheet 144. In overall very fine condition.The map is in excellent condition virtually as good as new-however the paper cover is tattered at the corners from shelf wear but it’s still firmly attached. From the large OS collection of a late friend and I think this one was purchased for reference and to admire but probably never used -due to the excellent condition of the interior. The map itself inside its shelfworn cover is perfectly folded with the linen cloth backing of the map on the outside which is how these maps were if they had never been unfolded.The map is in amazingly good condition probably due to the protection of the linen backing and the strong likelihood that it’s not been used.There are actually no signs of use on the map itself,the linen cloth side is like new and the map colours are not faded although the background paper colour has aged to a uniform creamy tone typical of paper of this age. A really good vintage map for use and general interest or for anyone interested in the beauty and utility of maps themselves. Ideal for all kinds of research for geography,local history,economic history,social history,etc. From a smoke free pet free home and has been kept carefully boxed and shelved indoors
