This vintage gold tone mudfish brooch is a museum replica of a West African gold weight reproduced by Alva Studios. The Bamun people of Ghana believed the mudfish to be a symbol of help, nourishment, and protection. The interior is signed Alva Studios - Reproduction. Length 1 7/8" x Width 1 3/8". Weight: 24.7 grams. Very good vintage condition with some color wear on the fishes dorsal fin.
