Vintage 1930s Plush Garnet/Plum Silk Velvet/Ruched Dress Plus Size

Description: Vintage 1930s Plush Garnet/Plum Silk Velvet Ruched Dress Plus Size. Please note: vintage clothing is used clothing and sold as is. I found this many years ago in the state of Kentucky near Paducah. The Kentucky Welcome House built in 1850 was near the estate where this was found. RARE larger size Evening Dress, slightly below the knees in length. Very plush Silk velvet fabric in a RICH deep Garnet/Plum color. It appears brown, but it is more deep Garnet/Plum in color. This garment is handmade, stitched by machine and hand. Blouson bodice with V-neckline and 1", wide ruching down the front bodice. Shoulders have 1" rcuhing down the center. Each sleeve has three ruched sections 1" wide, stunning sleeves. Inner bodice lined in a lightweight woven open weave cotton. Cream snap grossegrain ribbon back placket closure. A slightly stiffer fabric in cream with a woven stripe pattern is the built-in slip. Open along one side, not certain if it was meant to be sewn this way, or was an open seam. I would remove this and use a regular half slip beneath. The lower skirt is plush and soft and flowing. Hemline of skirt has Picot stitched finishing. Center silk velvet ties are attached to the center waist, and the buckle is really an older pin with the stick portion of the pin used to center the ties. Ties at back waist. Pin in a leaf scroll pattern, no maker, no damage. Pin has a goldish silver tone to it. No Armcyce damage, no rot, no crushed velvet, holes, or scuff marks. Perfect holiday garment. Heavy in weight with all the ruching. Back placket shows at back and would need simple hand stitching to cover this so it does not shown when worn. Found as is. Beautiful and clean condition.
