Description: Victoria Carlsbad Austria Greek Women Dancing Cherub & Lyre Cobalt Plate Very pretty porcelain cabinet plate. Nicely decorated with a classical / allegorical scene of three Greek women dancing with a cherub plays a lyre. Surrounded by a border of dark cobalt blue than fades to white ass it gets closed to the edge. The edge has relief molded scrollwork and gold gilt highlights. With a band of gold gilt designs around the central scene and another band of fancy Art Nouveau style gold gilt scrollwork and floral designs. Marked on the reverse with a red Victoria crown Austria mark. This is an overglaze decorating mark used by Schmidt & Company between 1904 and 1918. Has some wear to the gilding and some usage marks to the central image, but otherwise good condition with no chips or cracks. Measures approximately 8 1/2 inches wide. This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not affect the display of the piece. KT
