Description: Please read & note: This is a Rights holding DVD created & produced by me and is not factory made or sealed. I strive to produce the best DVD's possible from the sometimes VERY old Public Domain material. Films that are public domain are unpreserved and not professionally remastered. I remaster all of my films myself to the best possible quality achievable. My DVDs are not the quality of todays Modern DVDs or Bluray discs. If you are looking for this kind of quality then these discs are not for you. All pictures are actual screen captures from the DVDs. Please note this when purchasing, but also know that all of the films are very watchable. To keep my prices as low as possible all my DVDs are delivered in plain paper DVD sleeves and the DVDs title will be labeled on the back of the DVD envelope. This way you can write the contents of the DVD on the DVD yourself if you want to. (See picture). All of my DVD's come with a menu for easy film selection. Film 1: "VD is for Everybody" (1969) COLOR Runtime 1 minute A strange little PSA that makes it look like everyone in the world who has VD is happy, bright and popular. Although this popular TV public service announcement informs the public that everybody is susceptible to venereal disease, strangely, it also seems to imply that having VD will make you successful, attractive and happy. Also, the song is quite infectious... Film Release Date: 1969Film Entered the Public Domain: 1998 Film 2: "Innocent Party" (1959) COLOR Runtime 17 minutes Like many other venereal disease films, Innocent Party focuses on the morality and emotions associated with venereal disease rather than the medical aspects. The actual mechanics of syphilis transmission are only briefly mentioned , yet the shame and anguish are clear for all to see. This film echoes the common theme found in many venereal disease films - that premarital sex leads to VD.Film Release Date: 1959Film Entered the Public Domain: 1988 Film 3: "Know For Sure" (1941) B&W Runtime 21 minutes A Hollywood-produced melodramatic short that deals with prophylaxis, diagnosis and clinical treatment of syphilis. Discusses follow-up treatment, sources of infection and community control. This 40's anti-syphilis film features several case studies of various people visiting a public health clinic to be tested for syphilis. The first case, featuring an outrageously-stereotyped Italian immigrant couple whose baby is born dead because of the disease, is fairly maudlin. Other than that, the film is surprisingly straightforward and unsensationalistic in its message. It's an interesting example of how the subject was dealt with back in the 40's.Film Release Date: 1941Film Entered the Public Domain: 1970 Film 4: "To the People of the United States" (1944) B&W Runtime 21 minutes Public education film on combating the epidemic of sexually transmitted diseases, especially syphilis, in World War II.Film Release Date: 1944Film Entered the Public Domain: 1973 I claim ownership and rights to this media. All the films on this DVD have been researched and are copyright free or the copyrights have expired due to non renewal.
