Description: Luigi Fumagalli was born near Milan in Italy. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Monza and developed his enormous talent during many years of travel, painting, and exhibiting. His first major show was sponsored Alitalia Airlines. His Oriental subjects, like these geishas of Japan, are rendered with his Latin passion. All his work evokes a powerful vitality conveyed by his colors, compositions, and movement. Fumagalli lived in Honolulu since 1969, delighting in Hawaiis light, the variety of her colors, and the ethnic mix of her people. His style features a strong, expressionistic balance of realism and abstraction. I believe that a few of his paintings became part of a limited edition of greeting cards in the 1980's. These were so beautifully printed that someone actually framed them. It took a bit of research before I realized that. However, even these cards can be a bit rare today.
