"Late Ticknor & Fields", etc. on line above date on title page, Brown endpapers, sheets are sewn rather than stapled), 1875, Printed by Welch, Bigelow & Co., Cambridge, MA, USA, 1875, Hardcover Book, 401 pages, This is an antique, 1875, book by Henry James OM (1843 -- 1916), the famous American-British author. This was only Henry James' 2nd book ever; it was issued less than three months after his first. Published in the same year as his first ("A PASSIONATE PILGRIM"), this book is a collection of travel sketches from his journeys around Europe in 1872-1874. From my research online, I found it is a rare, First Printing from 1875. James R. Osgood and Company produced less than 1600 copies of this 1st Edition. This book's 2nd Page has a Publisher's ad for Henry James' first book (see pic). The book is very legible and solid: an interesting, antique, 1875 book. The publisher was a well-known Boston book publisher of the late 1800's. See ebay pics above for actual book. Good Condition [ Covers are lightly scratched (see pics), Spine-ends are worn (see pics), Cover-corners are scraped (see pics), someone has cut-out a 3-inch by 1-inch piece at the top of the second page (see pic; probably had name of former owner), rear endpaper has tiny sticker of "S. Wyatt" Bookstore, Market St, San Francisco; otherwise, book is complete, well-bound, solid, with pages that are clean, well-printed and easily readable ] 401 pages, approx. 7.5" x 5" x 1.25", terra cotta (or, rust brown) textured bevel-edge cloth covers, spine gilt lettered, "J.
