Description: Classic lithograph by Benton, signed in pencil depicting a soldier catching a train and leaving home for his army camp. Done in 1943. Poignant classic story and has the earmarks of Benton’s style. Print itself is just over 9x12” . Approximately 13x16 overall. Museum framed with UV filtered plexiglass and custom framing and matting. Benton painted and then made lithos of his paintings for wider distribution through the Associated Artists in New York when Americans were recovering from the Great Depression. With lithographs he was able to bring art at reasonable prices to average Americans in unsigned prints and the now highly collectible signed editions which are now prized by collectors and museums. This one shows saying soldier leaving home for his army camp. Beautifully matted and framed using acid-free materials. I have seen this priced as high as $6500.
