Occasional spots & soiling to page margins. Gutter starting to split (2-1/2 inches) at top of gutter with Title Page. Gutters pulling at pp. 116-117, 120-121, & 242-43. All pages remain tight. Binding has a bit of play, but remains solid. Slight lean to bottom of spine. Covers have wear & fraying to spine ends with a bit of loss to fabric; mild wear along edges, at corners & along spine edges; boards exposed a bit at top corners; bottom corners pushed; wear & darkening to spine label with small chip to top edge & moisture stain to lower middle. Showing its age a bit, but still a solid, attractive & desirable copy of the scarce first printing of one of James' most important collections of essays. A nice addition to your collection or as a gift. Ships well-packed in a box.
