The Second World War by Winston Churchill (1948-1953) 6 Vol BOMC HC Set w/ DJs

Description: The Second World Warfull complete six-volume set by Winston Churchill Six-volume set published by Houghton Mifflin Company and Riverside Press in the years between 1948 and 1953. One of Churchill's most well-known and important works amongst his many works of literature. This is a very nice, well-preserved set of Book of the Month Club (BOMC) editions, complete with the BOMC dot(s) on the rear board(s). It is somewhat uncommon to have a set of this age complete with all dust jackets. All are in serviceable condition albeit with some having more wear than others. They've all done their job well, preserved the scarlet red cloth boards, and prevented much noticeable wear from occurring to the books themselves. Any visible wear is mild and mostly bumping to the head/tail of the spine and some sunning/fading to the spines. The spines, hinges, and bindings on all volumes are very good and holding together well. There is the same owner's mark in all volumes on the front end paper and in some cases the front paste down. The inner pages are unmarked, perhaps a bit toned from age, but clean, crisp, and with no tears. Please view all photographs and see below for additional information on the condition of each volume. Notes on individual volumes- The Gathering Storm- DJ has rubbing/soiling and chipping/tearing around the edges including a prominent tear at the tail of the spine. Boards and inner contents excellent. Their Finest Hour- DJ color bright, wear to edges/corners, tears at top left, front edge of flap, and back of bottom cover. Boards/pages great for the most part. Front board has small blemish to cloth and another small blemish along the spine at the front hinge. The Grand Alliance- DJ front/back covers very good. Chipping/tearing to head/tail of the spine. Boards/pages great.The Hinge of Fate- Rubbing to front/back of DJ, tearing/chipping at edges/corners. Boards VG, bumping to corners and head/tail of spine. Pages very good. Closing the Ring- Rubbing to covers, chipping/tearing to corners, spine is very sunned. Boards VG, corners, head/tail of spine bumped. Inner contents VG. Triumph and Tragedy- Has a closed tear that extends most of the way across the front cover. General chipping/tearing around edges and at corners, head/tail of spine. Spine very sunned. Boards VG, bumping to corners and head/tail of spine. This is a very nice set of Churchill's most important work and one of the most famous works on World War II, written by someone who shaped the events themselves.
