Well, here you go - so most-definitely fall in, if you are not already familiar. To my personal Bluegrass & Guitar Pickin' & Playin' Loving-Ears ... this 14-Track Album - " Finally ! " released onto ' Digital ' CD ( Ha ! ) - in 1991 !! - is a little piece of ' Bluegrass-Heaven ' type Masterpiece ! Like the Ol' unwritten rule goes - when it comes to ( Real ! ) Bluegrass - If you're gonna play-in, well then ... you had better be a Player !! And Folks, these " Boys ! " can flat-out Play !! - and play-together real-well too, if I must say my own self. I mean ... Dang. Well, this Album by The Good Old Boys - was the pet project of both David Nelson ( the Old-Friend of Jerry Garcia - that not only played with Garcia on Broadway in '87 ! ... but that's a Friendship that dates all-the-way-back to the " Wildwood Boys " days ... say in like 1962 -1964-ish in the Palo Alto scene ! ) ... and, also-with Frank Wakefield. With, the " Special Guests " on this release featuring Chubby Wise ! & Don Reno ! As most Fans know - at least most Grateful Dead & Garcia Fans know ... that Garcia & Nelson were tight ! Not only musically, but even more importantly - as long-time Friends ! Just think back to that " Levis ! " Commercial - all the way back in '87 ... I mean, just think " 501 Blues ! " -- Ha !! Well, in 1975 - Nelson got Garcia involved in this project - during the " Hiatus Period " period of The Grateful Dead ( October 1974 - June 1976 ) ... while Garcia actually had a little time on his hands ! And, not as a ' Player ' like usually ( usually-always ) - but, as a " Producer !!! ". So yep, you betcha Fans ... this Album was Produced by ' The-Boss ! ' himself ... Jerry Garcia !!! And, as a result of this - when Grateful Dead Productions were putting out CD releases ( Finally ! ) in the Early-'90's, with the other examples being One From The Vault - Two From The Vault - etc. ... they put out This-One ! - on the Grateful Dead Records Label !!! Pretty awesome, indeed. Hey, why not - as Jerry Garcia was the Producer, it should be out on any Record Label the Grateful Dead were dabbling with at the time. So yep ... ( GDCD40122 / GDM, Inc. ) !!! And, what's also really kinda cool - if you will notice ( as it's indeed pretty easy ) - that this CD released version ( from 1991 ) is packaged much like the " One From The Vault " release ! Same similar style case & packaging ... inside notes, the Case, etc., etc.. A little piece of History here for certain - printed well over 30-Years Ago ! now - these days And, still with a Sound, Style & Delivery ! that is as Fresh as in 1975 when this project was launched - and quickly recorded, mastered & sent to the vinyl presses ! These tracks are just Truly-Awesome !!! If you love your American Acoustic Music - your Bluegrass ! Music - and of course too ( naturally ... ) your Pickin' ! & Playin' ! well then Friend ... this one is simply a ' Must ! ' be in your Cherished ( Real ! ) Music Collection. You'll be glad that you did, and it will become a Good Old Friend !! I actually like to Pick-Around with this one ( quite-a-bit ! ) when I'm listening - and have done it now - for Three ( 3 ) Decades ! Hey, you can learn a thing or two too ... you betcha !!
