The Dark Backward 1991 laserdisc features the late Bill Paxton and Judd Nelson in this rare cult classic. A satirical and horror parody/spoof of the comedy genre, this film is a must-have for collectors devoted to the bizarre. Laserdisc released in 1992, this out-of-pressing LD is in New Old Stock (NOS) condition, making it a valuable addition to any movie enthusiast's collection. So here's the premise - a nerdy garbageman has major aspirations of becoming the next great late-night talk show host, but his agent thinks he is the worst stand-up comic there is. Meanwhile, he must contend with a mysterious bump that appears on his back, from which a human arm/hand sprouts. He parlays this into his stand-up act and his agent is singing another tune. But his girlfriend leaves him, so not all good. Seriously, this got made? If there is a film about which you might say: WTF, then it's sort of a cult classic - this flick: x10. Bears no genre-relationship to David Cronenberg's 'body-horror' oeuvre, which strangely enough is more relatable [see for example, 'Crimes of the Future']. Reminds one of [story, not execution thereof] 'How to Get Ahead in Advertising' [1989], in which Richard E. Grant grows a head out of his shoulder and reaps rich rewards, including Rachel Ward; [no such luck here: all we get is Wayne Newton and ick]. Only LD on ebay and nothing has been in 'completed' forever. Combined shipping available for up to 3 discs - WAIT FOR REVISED INVOICE before paying. Item is from a recently cleared-out storage locker, in a climate-controlled building, where it had been, untouched, since 2007. Part of a trove of 500+ LDs, most of which are NEW OLD STOCK - never opened, which l will be listing in the coming months. Prior to being stored, item had been in a no-smoking and no-pet premises. Item kept properly: disc in envelope and sleeve, upright, ie, not stacked. Disc never out or handled. Disc in basically brand new condition.
