Description: Very Good condition leather hardcover copy of Tales of Shakespeare by Charles and Mary Lamb. Illustrated in black and white plates. Bound in chestnut brown leather, crimson spine, black spine panel, gold foil lettering and decoration, and marbled textblock and endpapers. Published 1899 by Bickers and Son, London UK. Front board is slightly shaky but binding is sound and pages are unmarked, with the exception of large bookplate affixed to first pastedown endpaper, minor cracking to paper on gutter of first endpapers, and minor rubbing to exterior fore edges of textblock. Boards are clean and square with minor split to leather along length of front hinge, very minor partial split (~1.5") to leather on back hinge, minor moisture staining to front, and minor rubbing to extremities.
