The berries are ripe and ready to pick in early summer. Many wildlife animals love these berries too - so don't dally! This year we decided to eat a few, but mainly collected the berries for seed. Papa said "I checked a whole bundle of these bushes, about 20 feet around, and there wasn't but 4 berries! The spring was very dry for our area. We think this had something to do with our bummer of a harvest.
