Description: Heres a very rare coin. Samaria Neapolis Antoninus Pius AE32 NGC CH F 4/5 3/5. This coin is sometimes referred to as a Medallion. The obverse depicts Antoninus Pius, reverse Mount Gerizim with Temple atop, altar and stairway. In the Torah, it is stated "Behold, I set before you today a blessing and a curse… And it will be, when the Lord, your God, will bring you to the land to which you come, to possess it, that you shall place those blessing upon Mount Gerizim, and those cursing upon Mount Ebal. (Deutoronomy 11:26, 29). Mount Gerizim is also very significant to the Samaritans, who believe Moses, in his tenth commandment, ordered them to protect it as a sacred mountain and worship on it by making pilgrimages to it three times a year. A slightly nicer example, but with rougher surfaces, sold at CNG for around $3600 including buyers fee in January 2023.
