Made In Italy, a piece of white adhesive affixed on bottom of marble base reads, "6/4/1997 ROME AT ST. PETER'S CATHEDRAL ON MS. MAASDAM CRUISE OF EUROPEAN CAPITALS," which commemorates the date of purchasing this lovely miniature sculpture. The chariot depicted in this sculpture is known as a biga, which in Latin, means two-horse chariot used in Ancient Rome for such things as sports, transportation, and ceremonies such as funerals. When used in battles, it was primarily used as the getaway transport. This sturdy, unimposing piece measures approximately 3.5" Long x 3.5" High x 2.25" Wide and would be attractive on a bookshelf, desk, or part of a related collection of artifacts.
