The pet project of Greta Garbo, who came out of a year of self-imposed exile after refusing the poor scripts that MGM was attempting to saddle her with, to play the historic Queen of Sweden. Loyal and bound to her country when she experiences romance, she decides to give up her throne to follow her heart.
