Description: Original Cold War era 5-inch blade Jet Pilot Knife with original scabbard in scarce unused condition. Manufactured in 1989 by Ontario Cutlery Co. in New York (stamped ONTARIO / 6-89 on the pommel). This type is designated by the US military as KNIFE, SHEATHED, HUNTING, SURVIVAL, PILOTS; it entered the service in the early ears of the Vietnam War. The knife is 9-1/2" / 24.2 overall; parkerized blade is 5" /12.7 cm. Original factory edge; the tip is intact; saw teeth on the spine are intact. Stacked leather washers handle with iron guard and hammer-like pommel; the handle is solid; all parts are tight. Original leather scabbard with a metal-reinforced tip/back and a honing stone pocket - the pocket is empty; the scabbard is unused. The leather is soft and supple still; all original stitching, rivets, keeper are intact. The saw teeth on the blade’s spine are intact as well. Stacked leather washers handle with iron guard and hammer-like pommel; the handle is solid; all parts are tight with no play. Original-issue leather scabbard with a metal-reinforced tip/back and a honing stone pocket; the scabbard is unused as well; it’s in excellent overall condition. The leather is soft and supple still; all original stitching and rivets are intact, original keeper is intact and tight. The front pocket is designed to hold a honing stone; the pocket is empty. Overall, this knife is in 100% serviceable condition still; you will not be disappointed. The knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, 100% original condition.
