SHIELD origin retold in "And Now It Begins...', script by Roy Thomas (plot, dialogue) and Frank Springer (plot), art by Frank Springer; HYDRA repeatedly tries to murder Nick Fury before he can recruited to head SHIELD; The agent in charge of the operation, Agent L, is executed for his failure by Agent H; After reminiscing about his days in WW2, Fury meets Tony Stark, who introduces him to the SHIELD board of directors, then shows him a film detailing HYDRA's operations; After Fury uncovers a bomb in the room and dispatches it, along with the spy who planted it, he realizes the danger facing the free world and takes the job. Frank Springer's 1st Marvel work. 36 pgs., full color. $0.12. Cover price $0.12. The post-credits scene of Marvel Studios' Black Widow saw the highly-anticipated return of Julia Louis-Dryfus' Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. The mysterious authoritative figure approached Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova with a new target: Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye. Fontaine made her MCU debut just three months ago in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier's fifth episode. There, she attempted to recruit Wyatt Russell's John Walker, who had just been stripped of his Captain America title after bludgeoning a member of the Flag Smashers. In the season finale, Fontaine's recruitment efforts proved to be successful. Walker emerges in a red, white, and black variation of his Captain America suit, fresh with the rebranded title of US Agent. Based on Walker's villainous actions throughout the series, many have penciled his recruiter in as an antagonist herself. Couple that with her interaction with Belova in Black Widow, and Fontaine's status as a bad guy seems all but confirmed. That said, a new detail from Black Widow's post-credits scene points to Fontaine being a force for good. MARVEL COMICS KEY 1st PRINTHouse of X (2019) #3 P Comic IS COOL!!
