Product Description: This offering is for a single 4.5 mm spacer that is commonly used to allow for a newer 8/9/10 speed Shimano HyperGlide (HG) freehub to accommodate a 7-speed HyperGlide (HG) cassette. It's an easy conversion in the sense that one of these spacers slides onto a hub body first...followed by a 7-speed HG cassette...and the added space taken up by the 4.5 mm spacer allows for the HyperGlide lockring to still cinch down on the 7-speed cassette. Please also note these spacers actually have a few notches to help the spacer seat better on an HG splined hub body. As for condition, all of these spacers are new and unused. Listing Update...We should also note that some 7-speed HyperGlide cassettes will have a handful of the splined sprockets/spacers connected by rivets. This will not cause a problem when mounting one of these cassettes on a 7-speed HyperGlide freehub, but can present a minor problem when coverting an 8/9/10 speed HyperGlide freehub to a 7-speed compatible freehub with one of these spacers. The problem arises from the rivet heads (measuring about 3 mm) that protrude out the back of the 7-speed HyperGlide cassette. These rivet heads end up resting against one of these conversion spacers, which results in about 7.5 mm of space behind the cassette. As a result, the threaded lockring will usually not thread on the end of the hub body, because there is too much space accounted for by the spacer and the rivet heads. The fix is a fairly simple one...just tap out the rivets and mount each sprocket and spacer separately (and note that because this is a HyperGlide hub body...the sprockets will only mount one way...so mounting each sprocket individually will still result in functional HyperGlide (HG) index shifting that is no different from a cassette with rivets still intact).
