Description: Finally, magazines are once again available for the Thompson Center Compass (and Compass II) rifle! Unlike the rotary style 5-round magazines that originally came with the rifle, Liberty Tree Ventures NT-Mags are a vertical feed box magazine design available in 10-round or 5-round capacities in addition to a single-shot plug. The top of our NT-Mag is shaped to fit the TC Compass magazine well with a built-in ramp to feed rounds into the barrel at the correct angle for reliable chambering. Best of all, these mags are made in the USA!These mags are for TC Compass rifles chambered in the .308-based cartridges (.243, 6.5CM, 7mm-08, and .308). The maximum overall cartridge length for these mags is 72.5mm or 2.85 inches (well above the length of standard loadings for these rounds, but we wanted to allow some extra space for longer than normal custom reloads).Tolerances on these mags for 308-based cartridges are intentionally close to the maximum dimensions of the magwell on the Compass rifles for better fit and to maintain the correct angle for rounds to feed into the barrel chamber across the wide variety of calibers they're intended for. They'll be "tight" if inserting them with the bolt closed; to quickly adjust the mag fitment to your specific rifle insert the empty magazine with the bolt open, then cycle the bolt a handful of times to wear in the top / inner edge of the feed lips. The mag bodies are made from polyethylene terephthalate glycol (PETG) thermoplastic with embedded carbon fiber for added strength and rigidity. These magazine bodies have excellent chemical and oil resistance and can resist temperatures up to 160 degrees Fahrenheit! The exterior is textured to closely match the finish and color on the TC Compass rifle. The follower and locking tab are a high-vis orange color while the dark gray release latch is a carbon fiber composite for strength and durability.
