BOOKS ARE NOT INCLUDED.NAPOLEON II (1811-1832) The son of Emperor Napoleon I and Marie Louise of Austria, he had been Prince Imperial of France and King of Rome since birth. Disputed Emperor of the French for a few weeks in 1815. After the fall of his father, he lived the rest of his life in Vienna. Died of tuberculosis at the age of 21. Very rare and evocative personal objects once belonging to the young prince, namely a set of five hand-painted cast lead soldiers, fittingly in the uniform of French grenadiers. Each of these figures is 1.5 in. tall and the paint on each remains almost entirely intact. These pieces may have been part of a strategic game of sorts, or may simply have been decorative in nature. Clearly, any personal objects belonging to Napoleon II are excessively rare. Three soldiers of this series belonged to the Napoleon Foundation of Paris (See: Jouets de Princes 1770-1870, Musee National des Chateaux de Malmaison et Bois Preau, Reunion des Musees Nationaux, reference no. 40). From the personal collection of one of the world's largest private collections devoted to the French Revolution and Napoleon I, as well as the First and Second World Wars.
