HAZORFIM (“הצורפים” in Hebrew) is the Hebrew word for “goldsmith” and is derived from the root word “לִצְרוֹף” meaning to purify or refine. The company began as a small workshop in Tel Aviv founded in 1952 by immigrant Yoseph Merdinger and expanded by his son, world-renowned artist and silversmith, Yakov Merdinger.
