Description: An extraordinarily rare object, an original prison door window from a 16th century French prison. Crudely forged, and hammered with square nails, this piece shows centuries of age and rusting and a few cleanings. Similar examples can be seen today on surviving European dungeons, and near identical examples on period illustrations depicting the interior of The Bastille.
