Description: LATE 1800s Gothic Leather Family Bible with various family ephemera throughout the book! Don’t miss this gorgeous Bible from the 1800s! This massive family Bible features a 3D Gothic leather cover, with gold gilt lettering and designs! Both the Old and New Testaments are presented in this Bible, with many illustrations and engravings! This family Bible is filled with personal artifacts. This was a gift to Frederick W. Schrieber from his wife Christina on May 13th, 1891. It features what is likely both of their photographs in the back of the book, along with a photograph of two children. Various ephemra has been found between the pages, including a cache of pressed leaves and flowers, and two photographs; one of which appears to be a flooded house. This bible was published in 1889 by Cranston and Stowe. Condition: This Bible is in VERY GOOD (-) condition. Covers and spine with moderate wear and some chipping; front cover gutter chipped but still attached. Gold gilt on all sides of textblock, faded/patinaed with age. Foxing throughout text, even and warm. The only page that is not bound is the last page of Psalms; it is laid in. Pages are clean and free of writing; ephemera laid in, not all likely discovered yet.
