Description: BOWLES, Paul. Let It Come Down. London: John Lehmann. 1952. 8vo. First British edition. Publisher's pale blue boards lettered in vermillion to the spine, in the beautifully-designed John Minton dust jacket. The cloth boards seemingly with some frost damage towards the fore-edge of front and rear board, though the boards remaining firm, the binding tight, with no odour. A few faint spots to the cloth backstrip, and some light spots to the textblock edges. Internally clean, with no inscriptions, endpapers with light offsetting and very mild scattered foxing, very sporadically throughout, and often fine. The dust jacket unclipped (12s 6d net) and complete, with several tape repairs to verso, the spine a little faded as is almost always the case, with some nicks and shallow chips around the corners, rear panel lightly spotted. A handsome copy of a desirable volume. The author's third book and second published novel, set in Tangier, a place he knew well. The Minton design is surely one of his most striking.
