LE CORBUSIER TYPED LETTER SIGNED, ARCHITECT, ARTIST, URBAN PLANNER, RELIGION

Description: HE WAS A PIONEER OF MODERN ARCHITECTURE AND AT THE TIME OF THIS LETTER HE WAS WORKING ON HIS FINAL BUILDINGLE CORBUSIER (1887-1965) TYPED LETTER SIGNED, “Le Corbusier, one page, 8.25 x 10.5, on personal letterhead, Paris, June 24, 1957, to C. Hary, by the Swiss-French architect, designer, artist, urban planner, and author. Letter in full (translated): “Thank you for your report of June 20, 1957. These are very relevant observations from which we must draw conclusions. I confirm the question from Marseille: colors of loggias, which cannot remain without serious examination.” At the time of this letter Le Corbusier was involved in his second major religious project the Convent of Sainte Marie de La Tourette in L’Arbresle in the Rhone Department (1953–1960), the architect’s final building. The design of the building began in May 1953 and was completed in 1961. He described the building in a letter to Albert Camus, the French philosopher and author, in 1957: “I'm taken with the idea of a "box of miracles"....as the name indicates, it is a rectangular box made of concrete. It doesn't have any of the traditional theatrical tricks, but the possibility, as its name suggests, to make miracles." The letter is in fine condition, with minor age toning, a paperclip impression at the top edge, a couple of tiny edge nicks, and a crease in upper right corner. #13097ZUAI Certificate of Authenticity This item has been authenticated and is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity issued by our parent company, History Makers Autographs.
