Description: This rock was found on the shores of Lake Michigan and contains sodalite, a mineral commonly known as Yooperlite for its fluorescent properties under a blacklight. The light used for the pictures is a 365 nm blacklight. There is a corner on the bottom side of the rock where no Yooperlite mineral is found (this is in picture 9 on the right side). The rest of the rock is scattered with the Yooperlite mineral. It measures 4.75 inches by 2.75 inches and weighs 2 pounds and 4 oz. A rock containing Yooperlite is very rare in this size.
