The frame has many scuffs and dings to the corners and needs a new paper back, consider getting a new frame for this very unique piece of art. The frame measures 14-1/8” by 15-1/16”. He graduated from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, in 1971. Since then, he has been a working artist and printmaker. The characters seen in Beckwith's work come from his imagination, rather than being based on models or people from everyday life. "My approach allows these characters to become 'everyman,' true representatives of humankind who are approachable, humorous and empathetic," Beckwith says. Beckwith's characters are often found in impromptu gatherings: in street scenes, bar rooms, and at night clubs. "I enjoy places where people gather, whether working together or at play," Beckwith says. Beckwith's etchings are hand-printed directly from the metal plates on which they are drawn by the artist. Watercolor, acrylic, and sometimes gold leaf are added by hand later to further embellish the lively imagery.
