Description: This listing is for an authentic vintage sample of antique barbed wire fencing. This wire features a William H. Jayne and James H. Hill patent dated April 11, 1876. This wire is called "Jayne & Hill's Locked Staples Around Two Loosely Twisted Lines", by collectors. (ref. Hagemeier 568-B VARIATION). (#568 shows barb around both lines . it does not show the loosely twisted lines). This wire features two round line wires, loosely twisted together. There are two wraps between barbs. Barbs are four pointed, made by locking two staples together around the two line wires. These barbs were hand applied to a standing wire fence, using a specially patented tool. Wire sample is at least 18" in length. Wire shows age and use wear with light to moderate pitting. There are two barbs, well spaced and cut is well centered. There are no bent, broken or missing points. Wire is in good used condition. This sample of antique barbed wire is absolutely old and authentic and sells with no reserve.
