Back caption reads, "THE BURREN (Great Rock) is a plateau occupying an area of over one hundred square miles in north Clare.It rises in the south from the foothills above Killinaboy and Kilfenora, is bounded on the eastby the Gortaclare mountains and is contained in the west by the Atlantic Ocean. Lemaneagh Castlesituated on the edge of the Burren was an important O'Brien stronghold. The remains are of a talloblong tower dating from about 1480."
