Description: My downsizing continues.. You are bidding on a homebrew DIY Maxi-Matcher type tube tester that is used to match 6L6GC and equivalent tubes, or different tubes with adapters. It was designed to be used with an external power supply like a Heathkit IP-32 or an Allied Radio Knight KG-664. The B+ and bias voltages are set by the adjustable power supply. The tester has a built-in Hammond 116N6 6,3 Vac @ 4A filament transformer. Used in conjunction with an external variac, the tester is turned on and the variac adjusted for 6.30 Vac at the test points with the tubes plugged in. The bias and B+ voltages can be read at the test points with an external multimeter or the meters on the power supply can be used. I always used an external multimeter because the bias voltage is critical. A Velleman PMLCDL digital panel meter indicates the cathode current. Since you are using an external power supply, you can fully characterize a set of tubes by adjusting the B+ and bias voltages to see how well they remain matched or the match tubes using the B+ and bias voltages found in the amplifier. Over the years I have compared tubes tested and matched with a "real" Maxi-Matcher against my homebrew version and the matching was always very close if not spot-on. The winning bidder will pay a fixed $25 S/H via USPS Ground Advantage. Please ask any questions. Dave - WA6VVL
