Description: This is a very nice piece of vintage (1962 dates on most of the tubes) tube audio equipment. I've tested the tubes and all are green on my BK-667 tube tester. The TA5000x uses: five 12AX7, one 12AU7, four 7355, one 6AQ7/ECC85, three 6BL8/ECF80, one 6EQ7, one 6BN6, one ECH81 The output tubes are all GE with 1962 & 1963 date codes. They match at 88-89% on my tester which does not mean they are weak by 11-12% as this tester does not operate like that. The 12AX7s are domestic Sylvania, RCA, Raytheon, and GE. Two are long plate and in the main preamp section (not the phono). Two of the 6BL8 are Amperex and one is Raytheon. The 6AQ8 is Tungstram Austria. The 6AJ8 is Mullard Austria. I've deoxidized all the pots and switches and all are quiet. All lights are working. No hum on this unit. Dial cord is working and both AM and FM are receiving properly along with the tuning (FM) and strength meter (AM). I've tested both high and low level phono inputs. All good with no hum. Headphones are tested and working. The TA-5000x is stated to have the amplifier section of the HK A-500/5000 and the preamplifier section of the HK A-700/7000. This receiver has been compared to McIntosh receivers of the same era. Also compares well to vintage Fisher, Scott, Sherwood, and Eico from the classic tube amp era. All tubes included. Unit has huge output transformers. All tubes that are supposed to have tube shields have them. The only flaw is that the tuning knob is not original. It is close in size and finish. The other 8 knobs appear original. Local pickup is welcome - I will stage for you to hear on a nice pair of speakers.
