Description: HARA ARENA Vintage Style T-Shirt Short-Sleeve (MADE IN OHIO-SIZES L, XL, 2XL) HARA ARENA was a 5,500-seat multi-purpose arena located in Dayton, Ohio. The site was originally the family-owned fruit orchard of Harold and Ralph Wampler. The name stems from “HA” from Harold and “RA" from Ralph.In 1956, the Wampler Ballroom was erected, and the arena opened in 1964. Over it’s 60-year history, the facility hosted many legendary performances.HARA hosted one of the first-ever U.S. performances of the Rolling Stones, on November 13, 1964, which was attended by only 648. That night, The Stones played for about 20 minutes and performed only eight songs. Heavy metal band Pantera performed at the facility numerous times between the years of 1990–2001, and were officially named the house band of the venue in 1998. HARA was also where Wayne Gretzky played his first professional hockey game; a pre-season game between the Indianapolis Racersand the Cincinnati Stingers, on September 27, 1978. On the evening of Memorial Day (May 27, 2019) and into the early morning of May 28, the Miami Valley was decimated by multiple tornados. According to the National Weather Service, 19 tornadoes were confirmed in Ohio. These tornadoes killed two people and caused an estimated $1 billion in damage. The greatest destruction came from an EF4 tornado that tore through the town of Trotwood and parts of Dayton. This devastating tornado had winds of 170 mph with a path 0.6 miles wide and stretched 20 miles long. The historic HARA ARENA was in its path and had catastrophic damage.
