Description: St Florian Single Decade Rosary This gorgeous "pocket" rosary has a 7/8" oval nickel silver St Florian medal and a 2" silver-trimmed wooden crucifix. Both medal and crucifix were made in Italy; the chaplet was designed and handmade by me in the USA. The eleven beads are all 8 mm, smooth, round, natural, genuine semi-precious gemstones. He rose high in the ranks and in addition to his other duties, had the responsibility for organizing fire brigades. He eventually trained an elite group of soldiers who specialized in fighting fires. During the Diocletian persecution it was reported to Rome that Florian was not enforcing the rules against Christians. Ordered to offer sacrifice to Roman gods, he refused and was sentenced to be burned at the stake. While waiting on the pyre he taunted the soldiers to light the fire, and he would "ride the flames up to Heaven". Frightened of this the soldiers instead tied a millstone to his neck and threw him in the Enns river where he drowned. St Florian is the patron saint of firefighters, chimney sweeps, soap makers, Austria and Poland. FREE USA SHIPPING!
