Description: Inonotus Obliquus, or Chaga, is a fungus that grows on Birch trees. This Chaga was ethically and sustainable harvested along the shores of Lake Superior in Michigan's Upper Peninsula (UP), in an environment where there is no contact with air pollutants. The seller, a Disabled Veteran and founder of a Veteran Non-profit whose mission is to reduce the Veteran suicide rate, harvests this Chaga with other Disabled Veterans as a way to help Veterans get back out into Nature and to connect with others. This seller is also a Michigan Department of Rural Agriculture and Development Certified Wild Foraged Mushroom Expert. As such, all harvested mushrooms are dried and processed in accordnce with the rules and Best Practices required by the State of Michigan, to ensure a safe product for consumption. Customers report to us that the Chaga made them feel great- like they drank coffee- but had "smoother" effects, meaning, it feels like caffeine, but without any jitters. Chaga does not containe any caffeine. The Chaga is ground twice to ensure the finest grind to get the most out of it. Ground Chaga can be brewed like tea or coffee, and can be brewed several times (until the water runs clear, or about 4-5 times) to continue to have beneficial effects. It can also be used in a "French Press". Chaga tastes bitter, like coffee, which is why often, people add it to their own coffee, or use it as a substitute for coffee.
