Description: This is a fully polished piece of Burmite (Burmese) amber that contains a fascinating pair of giant legs with spines on them from what must of a been a very large insect from the Cretaceous Period!The legs were most likely lost by the insect when it tried to escape the sticky tree resin that tried to entrap it. The extended leg measures approximately 14 mm (half an inch) in length.It is quite rare to find legs of this size in any source of amber fossils. What makes these pair of legs most interesting is that they came from an insect that lived while dinosaurs still walked the Earth.These are among the largest legs I have seen in Burmite amber from the Dinosaur Age.The piece itself weighs 4.1 grams with approximate dimensions of 2.9 cm length by 2.1 cm width and 0.8 cm height.
