Description: ‘Have nothing in your houses that you do not consider to be beautiful or useful.’ William Morris French Antique Faience Inkwell – 1880’s Rouen Design An unusual six-sided French faience inkwell with 4 pen holders and a lidded ink pot, measuring 2 inches in the side and 3 ¼ inches high with the lid in place. It is 4 ½ inches in diameter. Beautifully decorated, it is unsigned however it also has a small earl’s crown and a family shield, which would indicate a special private order. The piece is in very good condition – no chips, no cracks and no fissures. Note: the dip nib pen is for illustration purposes only and NOT included in the sale of the inkwell.
