One of the best looking and well-designed eight-track 7-inch reel deck I've seen of its kind to satisfy all pros and novice alike. It's in amazing condition aesthetically and the 8 analog VU meters respond and all lit up except the 8th channel's bulb is out. It is worth having this indispensable esoteric machine around in any audio or video situation to add substantial life to any cold masterings that perhaps only a tape based format could ever muster, and that in itself is value enough to justify its staple purpose in any home based or pro studio environment alike! It's all you need for capturing that missing body of warmth sound character unattainable by the ubiquitous ones and zeros counterpart..So don't missed on this opportunity to own it!! Prior to posting, countless hours spent given a 20 point tune up including but not limited to, opening the machine layer by layer, board by board. New belt installed, tape transport rejuvenated, heads demagnetized. Lubrication and deoxit all knobs, controls & majority of electronics, as well as many relevant connections where necessarily important to ensure proper contact, static free and smooth operation. Furthermore, buffed and detailed clean every crevice every line to free from dusts with even some retouching may be involved in the refurbishing process. Bench tested and all buttons work as should, records and plays with motor mechanism strong as intended and ready to put in service once again. HOWEVER, Although everything functions as intended, the playback volume sounds normal, but the recorded audio material sounds a bit low. This may be due to tape incompatibility issue but I cannot say for sure. On that note, the unit is being sold in "AS IS" described condition. The Fostex A8-LR is no longer in production and becoming a hard commodity and very sought after due to its professional quality result of any studio or live recording project and ease of use that is still relevant in digital culture of today! So grab it while it lasts! Like most vintages, some superficial imperfections and cosmetic are almost expected but in no way impede normal functionality. Shipping and handling may vary on location.
