Description: On auction, we have "Etchings Of The West Edward Borein" a 2002 Special Edition by John T. Reynolds. This is a wonderful custom bound limited edition containing ten important etching pulled from the original Borein plates and authenticated by Harold Davidson, a Borein authority. It is limited to 50 special editions in brown leather and 25 presentation editions in green leather. This has gold gilt illustration and printing on the covers with decorative spine and gold top edges of the pages. Each volume is housed in a slipcase of handmade marbled paper and leather edges on the top and bottom. The books are printed on 120 gram Arches handmade paper. The etchings were prepared and hand proofed by Patrick Merrill, master printer. David Weinstein, bookbinder, contributed to the binding process and gold finishing. Included in the book are "Cinch Binder", "Bronc Breaker", "Scratchin' High", "Bronco", "Cutting Back The Strays", "Blackfoot Chiefs, Montana", "Hopi Boys", "The Wooden Bridge At Taos", "The Edge Of The Rim Rock" and "Mission San Antonio De Padua". Each etching has a title page, description and a tissue protective page. There are also prints of photographs, drawings and a letter from Frederic Remington. This special edition book was presented to Bob Hansen, a prominent Borein collector. It measures 13 1/2" X 12" X 1 1/4" and weighs 5 pounds 9.5 ounces. The ultimate book on Borein, this is in excellent condition: pristine. For a flaw, I found the ornamentation of the inside of the front cover with a small area missing the gold. This comes with a mylar protective cover inside its also excellent slipcase. As I am not an expert on rare books, please see my photographs for more description. This is from my friend who collects everything and is moving to a much smaller home. Now, he is starting to part with a few of his treasures. We believe this book would be a wonderful gift for yourself or a friend. I will be happy to answer any questions and, of course, combine your shipping.
