By the third season, however, the show had left that premise in the dust as Doris and the kids made the move to San Francisco, where they lived above an Italian restaurant and Doris moved toward a writing career for TODAY'S WORLD magazine. But by the fourth season Doris was suddenly, without explanation, a single woman living alone with a busy love life.
