Requires 2 AA batteries, which are not included. Battery compartment did have corrosion in it, which has been cleaned. Laser button on right arm works (see video). Before preparing to film the attached video, Buzz would talk when buttons on the communicator on his left arm were pressed, but not when buttons on his chest were pressed. When ready to film the video, he would not talk at all when any buttons were pressed. (After video was filmed and Buzz was set aside, he talked constantly, running through all of his phrases repeatedly, with no buttons being pressed, until batteries were removed.)
