Each alphanumeric place on the display is a rich 5 x 7 matrix grid that makes this screen suitable to display characters of any language. This item will work with any point of sale system or station that can handle the RS232 communication protocol: that means the hardware has to have a DB9 connector. It's a male connector with 9 pins. In the Pole Display device it is a matching female connector with 9 holes (see picture - cabled black connector) and two tightening sticks at each side. Although it is older, this sort of port is more secure than a USB port comparatively, and makes your POS station much less vulnerable to hacking. It cannot be taken hold of by a remote hacker, whereas a USB port can. On Windows or Linux operating systems (Desktop computers) this input is also called a COM port, as described in the Device Manager of the system.
