Description: I found this pottery vase at a small town estate sale in the early teens. It was a nice home, not with vast collections but a sprinkling of interesting or beautiful items saved from the past. I found this atop a tall book case in the living area. I liked the colors, the handles and the Germany stamp. I brought it home to a shelf in our den where it has been since. Time now for it to find a new home. I have learned that this is an Art Nouveau or Secession ceramic pottery vase likely manufactured by Carl Gebauer in the 1920s. It is marked "Germany" and numbered, I think, "949". Other listed items referencing nbr 949 are all the 3 twisted handle version like this but I cannot be sure that would always be the case. Medium brown ground with shades of blue, green, pink, white glaze floral and stripes. It is likely this pottery was made between 1919 and 1929 by Carl Gebauer. I am not expert but found this info from various other listings and informational sites. It measures approx 8" tall. It has 3 twisted handles. The stamps underneath are readable but not distinct. From manufacturing there are tiny dots and some other spots with no glaze. I have no idea if this is normal. Also there appears to be some wear on the handles, each of which is pictured individually. Review photos carefully and request more if needed. Questions always welcome!
