Description: St Marguerite D'YouvilleSingle Decade Rosary A very pretty chaplet with eleven 8 mm beads. It has a nickel silver medal that is 7/8" tall and oval in shape. It has the image of St Marguerite on the front and "Pray for Us" and "Italy" on the reverse. The medal has a nice amount of oxidation which shows the details and also gives it an antique look. The silver-toned 1-3/8" Crucifix was also made in Italy; the chaplet itself was designed and handmade by me in our home in the USA.The single Our Father bead is a pure white glass pearl with a textured surface that adds a bit of sparkle. The ten Hail Mary beads are faceted, fire-polished Czech glass in alternating lavender color and aurora borealis dark aqua/crystal bicolor. Born in 1701, she suffered in a difficult marriage to a man who sold bootleg whisky to the Native Americans, and who would disappear for long periods of time. She bore him 6 children; 4 of whom died in infancy; the remaining two sons became priests. After the death of her husband St Marguerite began to undertake many charitable works, establishing a home for the poor and founding the order of the Sisters of Charity of Montreal, which spread to other cities and came to be known as the Grey Nuns.
