Description: Kingsware was developed by Charles Noke and produced between 1898 and 1939. No other factory in the world has been able to recreate the same lustrous finish. The rich, brown effects of the Kingsware glaze were achieved by painting the design in coloured slip (liquid Clay) on the inside of the plaster mould, then the dark terra-cotta slip was then poured into the moulds and fused with the coloured slip this created the design in relief of rich colour that occur with the fusing of the slips from a dark treacle brown to a greenish colour. The white lettering was slip-trailed by hand In the Kingsware range you can find a variety of unique items including whisky decanters, loving cups, match strikers, water jugs and tobacco jars. The Dewar's whisky brand was created by John Dewar, Sr. in 1846. Under the control of his two sons, John A. Dewar Jr. and Thomas "Tommy" Dewar, the brand expanded to become a global market leader by 1896 and began to win several awards, including a gold medal in the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair. Dewar's eventually expanded their product by constructing the Aberfeldy Distillery in 1896. In 1998, Dewar's was sold to Bacardi. Ben Jonson was a solider, playwright, poet and was a contemporary friend of Shakespeare. Essentially the first Poet Laureate he is buried in Westminster Abbey. He is generally regarded as the second most important English dramatist, after William Shakespeare, during the reign of King James I.
