Corning American Brilliant Cut Crystal Glass Bowl 1900'sHere we have an Antique American Brilliant Cut Crystal Bowl made by the John Hoare Co. in Corning NY in the early 1900's.John Hoare, born in Cork, Ireland, in 1822, immigrated to the United States in 1853 and quickly established a successful glass-cutting business. After purchasing the Brooklyn Flint Glass Companys cutting shop, he opened Hoare Dailey in 1855, which later moved to Corning, New York, with support from the Houghton family. Hoare's business flourished, employing up to 300 people in the 1870s and 1880s and attracting customers from major U.S. cities. In 1887, he sold the business to his son, James, and George Abbott, renaming it J. Hoare Co. The company produced award-winning glassware, including a prizewinning punch bowl at the 1893 Chicago Worlds Fair. Despite success, the firm declined during World War I and dissolved in 1920.Based on the acid etched stamp, we believe this piece likely dates between 1902 and 1915. Unbelieveable geometric patterns around bowl. Truly is a fine example of masterful craftsmanship.Dimensions: 8" D x 3.75" HWeight: 3lbs 6ozBowl is in very good condition. Very minor scratching on the bottom of the bowl, no scratches or cracks.4L#7 8LJP Payment Feedback Shipping Returns Payment Payment terms coming soon Feedback Feedback terms coming soon Shipping Shipping terms coming soon Returns Returns terms coming soon HomeAbout UsView all listingsContact UsShipping Copyright © 2018 EllisAntiques.
